what is a plotter? what is it commonly used for?

it's used for printing works like banner printing etcectra.....

Hi,

Plotter is just like printer (and yes it is printer) but it is very big in size as compared to regular printers, because plotter is used to print vector graphics at very big size. It is mainly used by engineers to print real life size prints or even bigger than that and they are used for making advertising banners also.
