A prime number (or a prime) is a natural number greater than 1 that has no positive divisors other than 1 and itself.A prime number can be divided, without a remainder, only by itself and by 1. For example, 17 can be divided only by 17 and by 1.The only even prime number is 2. Zero and 1 are not considered prime numbers.

Prime number is a natural number whose factor is only 1 and itself. For example, 2 is the only even prime number. And the factors of 2 are 1 and 2 itself. So it is called a prime number. Opposite of prime number are composite number that has more than two factors. And only this classification is for numbers expect 0 and 1, which are neither prime nor composite. Hope this helps!
