In eukaryotes the protoplasm surrounding the cell nucleus is known as cytoplasm and that inside the nucleus as nucleoplasm.

FUNCTIONS OF PROTOPLASM:-

1) Reproduction: - Cell divide to form identical daughter cells.

2) Irritability: - Peotoplasm responds to stimuli.

3) Chemical:- Functions are carried out inside the cell like respiration in the mitochondria.

4) Excretion: - Cells expel excretory wastes.

5) Movement:- Cells show a contractile ability.

6) Growth:- Growth follows on cell division.
