A rainbow is caused by sunlight and atmospheric conditions. Light enters a water droplet, slowing down and bending as it goes from air to denser water. The light reflects off the inside of the droplet, separating into its component wavelengths--or colors.

it is formed when the water vapour which is present in the air reflect light coming from sun reflect that's why the rainbow formed and we can say that the rainbow is just a reflected light forming a beautiful semicircle see the word Rainbow you will notice that there are two words rain and bow understand that Rainbow if usually formed after the rain happen when the rain is stop and sun rays is coming but still the humidity is in the air and save on the rainbow is just look like a bow that's why it is named as rainbow.
