A reaction in which both reduction and oxidation reaction takes place is called redox reaction. Eg: ZnO + 2K gives Zn + K20, here ZnO(zinc oxide) is reduced to Zn(zinc) and K(potassium) is oxidised to K2O(potassium oxide)
