Answer: Redox reaction is a reaction in which oxidation and reduction takes place simultaneously.
Oxidation is a reaction in which electrons are lost and thus there is an increase in the oxidation number.
Reduction is a reaction in which electrons are gained and thus there is a decease in the oxidation number.
In the above reaction, Zinc undergoes oxidation as it loses electrons and get converted to and undergoes reduction as it gains electrons and get converted to with oxidation number zero.
Thus this is an example of redox reaction.
