Regulatory gene:- It is the gene which undergoes transcription and translation inorder to form a protein which is known as repressor.

Some important points about regulatory gene:-

1. This is also known as inhibitory gene or simply i-gene.

2. In this repressor is very large.

3. Repressor's allosteric protein has two binding sites. One is for the operator and second is for the lactose.

4. This gene can be in both upstream(5' end) and downstream (3' end).

5. Regulatory gene have its own promoter gene.
