Resistance:

  • It is the property of a conductor to resist the flow of charges through it.
  • Its S.I unit is ohm (Ω).
  • R = V/I

Where, R = Resistance, V = voltage and I = current.

Factors on which the resistance of a conductor depends:

  • Resistance depends on its length (L)
  • Resistance depends on its cross sectional area (A)
  • Resistance depends on the nature of material
  • \sf{R\propto \dfrac{L}{A}}
  • \sf{R=\rho \dfrac{L}{A}}

Where "ρ" (rho) is proportionally constant known as resistivity of the material of conductor.
