Just like human skin, plants too possess skin layers.

The outermost cell layer of the root is known as the rhizodermis.

This root epidermis has specialized rhizodermal cells called trichoblasts that are tubular in structure and grows almost perpendicularly along the cell axis.

Epiblem do not contain stomata and is not covered by cuticle.

It helps to absorb nutrients and water and uptakes rhizobia bacteria, thereby helping in the plant’s growth.
