A seed is nothing but an embryonic plant, well covered and protected by a coat known as seed coat.

The embryo or the baby plant gets the food from the cotyledons present inside the seed itself. After getting its requirements such as air, water, soil and sunlight it turns into a seedling.

It is called GERMINATION.
