The waves produced by the earthquake are called Seismic waves.
The instrument which records these waves is called Seismograph.
The instrument consist of vibrating rod which starts vibrating when tremors occur. A pen is attached to the vibrating system which touches a sheet of paper. The pen records the seismic waves on a paper.
