Definition:-

it is the layer of the land where all organisms live upon , there are alluvial, black, arid,red and yellow , forest ,latertie soils are found ,

Features:-

1) Alluvial soil is the best fertile soil ..

2) black soil has high water retention capacity...

3) Arid soil has high salt content ..

4) Red and yellow siol has Rich in ferric oxide and present in hydrated form ..

5)Forest soil has loamy & silty in nature

6) Latertie soil suitable for growing tea ,coffee,cashew nuts

These are are scattered in different parts of India such as Black soil in Deccan trap , Alluvial soil in northern plains , Arid in the western parts and so on
