Given :-

(x - 2)(x + 5) = 18

. To find :-

  • The solution of the equation...

Solution :-

(x - 2)(x + 5) = 18

By multiplying , we get

x(x + 5) - 2(x +5 ) = 18

 {x}^{2}  + 5x - 2x - 10 = 18

 {x}^{2}  + 3x - 10 - 18 = 0

 {x}^{2}   + 3x - 28 = 0

 {x}^{2}  - 4x + 7x - 28 = 0

By taking common , we get

x(x -4 ) + 7(x - 4) = 0

(x - 4)(x + 7) = 0

x = 4 \: or \:  - 7
