What is a solution? Write the difference between saturated
solution and unsaturated solution? Write any three properties
of a solution?
Answers
Answer:
A solution is a homogeneous mixture of two or more substances. A solution has a solvent and a solute as its components. The component of the solution that dissolves the other component in it (usually the component present in larger amount) is called the solvent.
A saturated solution is a solution that contains the maximum amount of solute that is capable of being dissolved whereas an unsaturated solution is a solution that contains less than the maximum amount of solute that is capable of being dissolved.
Properties of Solution:
It is a homogeneous mixture.
Its particles are too tiny and have a diameter less than 1 nm.
The particles are not visible to naked eyes.
Particles don’t scatter a beam of light passing through it and hence the path of the light is not visible.
Solutes are inseparable from the mixture and do not sediment. A solution is stable.
The components of a mixture cannot be separated using filtration.

Saturated, unsaturated and supersaturated refer to three different conditions of a solution.
A saturated solution contains the maximum amount of solute that will dissolve at that temperature. Any further addition of solute will result in undissolved solid on the bottom of the container.
An unsaturated solution contains less than the maximum amount of solute that can be dissolved at that temperature.
