⭕️Substitution reaction is simply a reaction in which one of the functional group in a compound is replaced by other group.

⭕️ In this an element replaces one or more hydrogen atoms present in a hydrocarbon.

Example:-

⭕️Alkanes undergo substitution reactions in which one or more hydrogen atoms of alkanes are replaced by halogens.

➖CH3Cl + Cl2  ⇒ CH2Cl2 + HCl 

➖CH2Cl2 + Cl2 ⇒ CHCl3 + HCl 

➖CHCl3 + Cl2  ⇒ CCl4 + HCl
