What is a thin film? Derive the conditions for constructive and destructive interference for the reflected system in a thin film of uniform thickness.

for constructive interference. for destructive interference. If the optical thickness is equal to a quarter-wavelength of the incident light and if the light strikes the film at normal incidence , the reflected waves will be completely out of phase and will destructively interfere.
