While creating content, the topic sentence is said to be the central idea of every single paragraph. It basically includes the focus of any paragraph and helps the readers to interpret about what would be said and analyzed in the following paragraph. Apart from this, there is no limitations on placing of the topic sentence, it can be present anywhere in the paragraph. However, while constructing an academic write-up, it is illustrated at the start of that paragraph.

The topic sentence has two parts- a controlling idea and the topic. While the topic expresses about what the created paragraph is going to discuss about, the controlling idea illustrates what one wants to present about his/her topic within the paragraph.
