when the Ray of light after refraction goes back into the same medium is known as total internal reflection that is if it is travelling from denser to rarer denser to rarer after refraction gets back to denser

When the angle of refraction is more or greater than the critical angle in any medium then the light get refracted to the same medium such that it appears to be reflected .....this is total internal reflection. ..
