URL(Uniform Resource Locator)  is a reference to a resource on the Internet. It has only two types or parts-

1. Protocol identifier- Indicates what protocol to use. 2.Resource name-Specifies IP address or domain name where the resource is located.

Protocol identifier and resource name are separated by colon and two forward slashes.
