A region of cytoplasm surrounded by a membrane and filled with substance in watery medium. They store water, glycogen and protein. It occupies about 90% volume of the plant cell.

Functions :

1. It helps to maintain the osmotic pressure in a Cell.

2. They provide turgidity and rigidity to plant cell.

3. They store toxic by products and end by products of plant cells.
