A virtual image is formed when reflected rays appear to meet. Such images cannot be obtained on screen. Plane mirrors, convex mirror and concave lens always forms virtual image.

the image which cannot be obtained on a screen is called a virtual image.A virtual image is formed when light rays coming from an object appears to meet at a point after reflecting from the mirror but the light rays coming from an object do not actually meet after reflection from the mirror.
