Wesak, also spelled Vesak, Sanskrit Vaishakha, Pali Vesakha, most important of the Theravada Buddhistfestivals, commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and death of theBuddha. The event is observed on the full-moon day of the lunar month Vesakha, which falls in April or May.
