what is a wind ? how many types ?
Answers
Wind can be defined as air currents or moving mass of air from high pressure areas to low pressure areas. Typically, air under high pressure normally moves towards areas under low pressure. Thus, the greater the pressure difference, the faster the flow of air which creates moving air with considerably strong force. The bulk movement of air occurs in the earth’s atmosphere and the outer space as well
WIND
The natural flow of air that is created when changes in temperature causes air to move from high to low pressure areas is known as wind.In simple terms wind is nothing but moving air.
TYPES OF WIND
There are three types of winds
- Trade winds
- Westerlies wind and
- Polar winds.
TRADE WINDS
The trade winds are the permanent east-to-west prevailing winds that flow in the earth's equatorial region.
WESTERLIES WINDS
The westerlies wind are prevailing wind from the west toward the east in the middle latitudes between 30 and 60 degree latitude. They originate from the high pressure areas.
POLAR WINDS
The polar wind is a permanent outflow of plasma from the polar regions of Earth's magnetosphere.
