It is sexual reproduction.
Female has xx chromosomes and male has xy chromosomes.
When X from female and X from male comes into play XX means female will be born,when Y from male XY male will be born.

Males have 22 pair of autosomes along woth sex chromosomes XY.Likewise Females have 22 pair of autosomes along with a pair of autosomes XX.
Whenever a Sperm carrying X chromosomes fertilises the egg(which always carry X chromosomes) the a girl child is born.
When a sperm carries Y chromosome and fertilises the egg then a boy child is born.
