For a polynomial P(x), real number k is said to be zero of polynomial P(x), if P(k) = 0. Therefore, 1 and 2 are the zeros of polynomial x2 – 3x + 2.

Zero of the polynomial.
Zero of the polynomial is a value which when substitute in a polynomial we get the end value as zero.
For example :
p (x) = x^2 - x - 2
p (0) = ?
let's try
x + 1 = 0
x = -1
so substitute this value in place of 0 in p(0)
then,
p (-1) = (-1)^2 - (-1) -2
= +1 +1 -2
= +2 -2
= 0
since, we got the final answer as zero.
(x+1) is the zero of the polynomial.
Note:
The above method which i used is also known as hit and trial method to find zero of the polynomial.
