AC current i.e alternating current.
Alternating current is a current in which, the direction of charge flow reverses periodically.

Hi,

Current: The rate of flow of charge is known as current.

A current has a magnitude, a frequency and a direction.

(Note: Current is not a vector quantity, the direction here is the direction of motion of positive charge.)

On this basis current has been classified into two:
____________________________

1) DC Current or Direct Current: It's a current of constant magnitude. They have a constant direction i.e, there direction doesn't changes. Also their frequency remains constant.

It's voltage can't be changed.

These type of current is usually produced by batteries. In a battery the chemical reaction creates a potential difference between the two terminals the allowing current flow.

2) AC Current or Alternating Current: It's a current of varying magnitude, frequency and direction. This type of current is usually produced by an A.C. generator using the principal of electromagnetic induction.

Another important aspect of A.C. current is that it's voltage be increased or decreased using a transformer.

Almost all are house appliances work on A.C. current. The electricity we get in or house is an A.C. Current of 50 Hz and 220 V.
