Acceleration :

▶It is defined as the rate of change of velocity with respect to time .

Acceleration ( a ) = change in velocity ( v ) / change in time ( t )

▶If in a given time interval t , the velocity of a body change from " u " to " v" , then acceleration [ a ] is expressed as :–

a = Final velocity ( v ) – Initial velocity ( u ) / time interval ( t )

a = v - u / t

▶This kind of motion is known as accelerated motion . The S.I unit of acceleration is m/s^2 . It is a vector quantity.

▶The acceleration is taken to be positive , if it is in the direction of velocity , negative if it is opposite to the direction of velocity if it opposite to the direction of velocity and zero when it is moving with a constant velocity .

Acceleration can be classified as :

I. Uniform Acceleration – If an object travels in a straight line and it's velocity increases or decreases by equal amounts in equal interval of time , then the object is said to be in a uniform acceleration .

ex - The motion of freely falling body !

I. Nonuniform Acceleration - If the velocity of an object increases and decreases by unequal amounts in equal interval of time ,then the object is said to be in non uniform acceleration .

ex - The movement of car in a large traffic .
