An Arrhenius acid is therefore any substance that ionizes when it dissolves in water to give the H+, or hydrogen, ion. An Arrhenius base is any substance that gives the OH-, or hydroxide, ion when it dissolves in water. ... Acids provide the H+ ion; bases provide the OH- ion; and these ions combine to form water

Heya... here's the answer,

ACID:
An acid is a compound which when dissolved in water gives hydronium ion as the only positively charged ion. Acids are categorized as STRONG ACIDS and WEAK ACIDS.
e.g.(HCl , H2S04 , HNO3 );

BASE:
A base reacts with an acid to give salt and water only. A base when dissolved in water is known as an ALKALI.
