Acid is the compounds that give hydrogen ions when dissolved into water.The PH value of acid is always less than 7.

For eg.

Hydrochloric acid (HCl), Sulphuric acid(H2SO4),etc.

All metallic oxides and hydroxides are called bases.The PH value of base is more than 7.

For eg.

Magnesium oxide(MgO), Calcium oxide(CaO),etc.

Salts are those chemical substances which are formed by the replacement of hydrogen of acid by metals ot ammonium radicals.The PH value of salt is exactly 7.

For eg.

Nacl,KCl,etc.
