The major residual waste from the factories are the oxides of Nitrogen and Sulphur.

Whenever these oxides are released, having less weight, they are forced to move up in the cloudy sky. The interaction of these oxides with the moisture present in the clouds leads to the formation of Nitrous and Sulphurous Acid. These acids are then accumulated between the water droplets of the clouds and when they precipitate, the water droplets falls along with these acids causing the Acid Rains.
