Acid rain :- Acid rain is a kind of rain caused by certain pollutants in the air. It is caused by a chemical reaction when sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides are released into the air. These substances can rise very high into the atmosphere where they mix and react with water, oxygen and other chemicals to form acids. These acids mix with water vapour and form clouds. When these clouds burst they fall as acid rain.
