Acid rain, means inclusion of acidic components, such as sulfuric acid or nitric acid in the precipitation.
The main factor for its cause is presence of NO2 and SO2 i.e acidic oxides in the atmosphere.
The burning of fossil fuels, vehicles and factories produce acidic oxides which during cloud formation mix with the water, and falls down as Acid rain
