acid rain is a rain or any other form of a precipitation that is usually acidic, meaning that is posseses elevated leveld of hydrogen ions.

The fossil fuel like coal or petroleum contain small amount of nitrogen and sulphur . when these fuels are burnt nitrogen and sulphur too are burnt and these produce different oxide of nitrogen and sulphur not only in the inhalation of these gases dangerous they also dissolve in rain to give rise to acid rain.
