Acid rain is any form of precipitation with acidic components, such as sulfuric or nitric acid that fall to the ground from the atmosphere in wet or dry forms. Power stations, factories and cars all burn fuels and therefore they all produce polluting gases. Some of these gases (especially nitrogen oxides and sulphur dioxide) react with the tiny droplets of water in clouds to form sulphuric and nitric acids. It adversely affects forests, buildings, water bodies, etc.

Here is your answer:

Power stations, factories and cars all burn fuels and therefore they all produce polluting gases. Acid rain is formed as a result of sulfur dioxide  and nitrogen oxides  are released into the atmosphere by the above mentioned means and transported by wind and air currents. The sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide reacts with water, oxygen and other chemicals to form sulfuric and nitric acids. These then mix with water and other materials before falling to the ground.

Acid rain is rain that is unusually acidic and highly corrosive in nature
