Answer

Acidity and basicity of compounds are indications of the pH. Acidity of a medium is caused by acidic compounds, which can release hydrogen ions (H+), resulting in a low pH in that medium. Basicity of a medium is caused by basic compounds, which can release hydroxide ions (OH–), resulting in a high pH in that medium. The key difference between acidity and basicity is that acidity causes a low pH whereas basicity causes a high pH in an aqueous medium.n:

ACIDITY is the no of OH ions that is dissociated by a base and basicity is the the no of H ions dissociated by acid its opposite to its meaning.

An acid is a molecule or ion capable of donating a proton (hydrogen ion H+) (a Brønsted–Lowry acid), or, alternatively, capable of forming a covalent bond with an electron pair (a Lewis acid). The first category of acids are the proton donors, or Brønsted–Lowry acids.

BASICIDITY is the number of H+ ions that can be released by an acid. Basicity of a base - It is the strength of a base. It tells us if the base is strong or weak. ... Basicity of acid is defined as the no of ionizable hydrogen (H+) ions present in one molecule of an acid is called basicity.
