Types of Vocabulary :-

There are two types of Vocabulary. These are

i) Active Vocabulary

ii) Passive Vocabulary

Active Vocabulary :-

Active Vocabulary is the vocabulary which the child adopts in his speech and writing. This vocabulary is also known as working vocabulary. The child expresses what he wishes to , by using words. The words that used by a child again and again actively are known as his active vocabulary.

Passive vocabulary :-

There are some words which a child is aware of but doesn't use them in his speech and writing. He keeps these words in his unconscious mind. But when he sees them in writing or hear them , he finds himself capable to recognise them. These types of words are said to be his passive vocabulary. Passive vocabulary is also known as Recognition vocabulary.
