it is a fat storing tissue which acts a heat trapper and is a sub part of loose connective tissue. the cells in it are adipocytes. its main role is to store energy in form of fat but it also insulates and cushions our body. it is primarily located beneath skin but can be found in internal organs too especially bone marrow. it forms a subcutaneous layer and found in hump of camel and blubber of whale too.it has abundant of mitochondria.
