In class 10th if you failed in any subject and passed in additional subject, then the marks of additional subject will be replaced with the failed subject marks.
In most of the CBSE schools the additional subject is Information technology.

suppose you got 80% marks in Hindi-B but got 95% in 6th subject- Information Technology then the 6th subject marks would replace hindi marks for percentage and improve your overall percentage.
