Aestivation or estivation is the positional organisation of the sections of the flower inside the bud of the flower before it is opened. That is also the manner in which sepals or petals are arranged in a flower bud with respect to the other members of the same whorl.

Valvate aestivation: Sepals or petals in a whorl just touch one another.

Twisted aestivation: One margin of the appendage overlaps the margin of the next appendage.

Imbricate aestivation: Margins of sepals or petals overlap one another but not in any particular direction.

hope this helps

Answer:

The mode of arrangement of sepals or petals in floral buds with respect to the other members of the same whorl is known as aestivation

types:

VALVATE: in valvate aestivation sepals or petals just touch one another at margin without overlapping. example- Calotropis

TWISTED: In twisted aestivation one margin of the sepal/petal overlaps that of the next one and so on.... example- China rose, cotton

IMBRICATE: In imbricate aestivation the sepals/petals overlaps one another but not in any particular direction. example- Cassia, Gulmohar

VEXILLARY(aka papilionaceous): it has 5 petals, one large which overlaps the two lateral which inturn overlap the two smallest anterior petals. example- Pea, Bean flowers.
