The age structure of a population refers to the number of people in the different age groups in a particular country.The population of a country is composed of children (0-14 years),adults (15-59 years) and aged (60 years and above).

That part of the population which is engaged in productive activities for earning is called working population.These people usually fall in the age group of 15-59.
That part of population ,which is not engaged in any productive activity and is dependent on the working population is called non working population.This part of population includes children below 15 that is age group 0-14 and adults of 60 years and above.
