The planting of trees in large scale as a method of afforestation in between rows of agricultural crops is known as agro-forestry.
The planting of trees in abandoned playgrounds, roadsides, old houses, unused compounds and similar other vacant spaces in a society as an afforestation programme is social-forestry.
