This is most soluble in water. Aqueous solution of ammonia called ammonia liquor is alkaline in nature. Joseph Priestley was the first ammonium chloride, ammonia gas produced by heating with lime. Ammonium chloride and faded in the laboratory by heating a mixture of lime, dried ammonia gas is produced.

- Bring the glass rod near ammonia.
