What is an acid ?

Acid is any substance (compound or element) which gives out H+ or H30 (hydranium) ions in aqueous solution.

For any acid or base they can be classified into 2 basic groups strong acid/base or weak acid/base.

Strong acids

Acids which completely get ionized in Aqueous solution is known as strong acids ex- HCL acids Sulphuric acids , Nitric acid etc

Weak acid

Acids which gets only partially ionized in aqueous solution is know as weak acid, ex all edible acids are weak

Acid on litmus

Acid when react with blue litmus paper it converts blue colour to red colour .

Taste

Acids have sour taste where as base have bitter taste.
