Nitrogen forms at least three acidic oxides. They are (1) dinitrogen trioxide, N2O3 (2) nitrogen dioxide, NO2 and (3) nitrogen pentoxide,N2O5. N2O3 is the anhydride of nitrous acid, HNO2. It dissolves in water to form this unstable acid.
