An acrostic poem is one where the first or the last letters of the lines make up a word relevant to the theme of the poem.
There are many acrostic poems with the one I attached below being an example. Here you can observe how the first letters of the lines make up the topic of the word 'education'. Further, each line is well written and relevant. Though there isn't exactly a rhyming scheme that is being followed, one can observe how there are rhymes in some lines with words like 'emancipation', 'determination' etc. which again rhyme with the word 'education' thus giving the whole poem a thematic compactness.
