Dear Student,

◆ Adsorption -

  • Adhesion of one molecular species on the surface of another is called adsorption.
  • For example, gas molecules get adsorbed on surface of activated charcoal.

# Adsorbate -

  • Substance which gets adsorbed during process of adsorption is called adsorbate.
  • For example, gas molecules, dust, sugar solution, etc.

# Adsorbent -

  • Substance whose surface adsorbs adsorbate during process of adsorption is called adsorbent.
  • For example, activated charcoal, skin, silica gel, etc.

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you...
