What is an alloy, a plastic, a monomer and a polymer?
Answers
ALLOY
an alloy is a metal made by combining two or more metallic elements, especially to give greater strength or resistance to corrosion.
In later times bronze has been used for ornaments, bells, statues, and bearings.Brass is an alloy made from copper and zinc. Unlike pure metals, most alloys do not have a single melting point, but a melting range during which the material is a mixture of solid and liquid phases (a slush).
PLASTIC
a synthetic material made from a wide range of organic polymers such as polyethylene, PVC, nylon, etc., that can be moulded into shape while soft, and then set into a rigid or slightly elastic form.
MONOMER
Monomers are relatively small and simple molecules that bond together to form polymer
POLYMER
Polymers are made up of many many molecules all strung together to form really long chains
its a large molecule
A polymer is a chemical compound where molecules are bonded together in long repeating chains. These materials, polymers, have unique properties and can be tailored depending on their intended purpose.
For example, rubber is a natural polymeric material that is extremely useful.
