Answer:
An alloy composed by mercury and other metal (or metals) forms amalgam. By contrast, in an amalgamation process, bits of solid metal, which may themselves be of either pure metal or an alloy, are mixed together with a liquid metal at a temperature which is below the melting point of the solid component.

alloys
- an alloy has at least one metal in its composition
- Alloys contain two or more elements
- alloys melted and blended together.
- their chemical formulas consist of more than one element.
- Steel, a combination of iron (metal) and carbon (non-metal),
Bronze, a combination of copper (metal) and tin (metal) and,Brass, a mixture of copper (metal) and zinc (metal) etc.
amalgam
- amalgams may be composed by 3, 4, 5 or even more elements,
- they are called binary and ternary etc.
- these can be man-made or can be naturally .
- eg:- Mercury, Silver, Copper, Tin and Zinc etc
