When a metal is mixed with another element, which may be a metal or a non metal such that a new substance of homogeneous composition is obtained, the substance obtained is known as analloy. Analloyis thus a homogeneous mixture of two or more metals, or a metal and a nonmetal. The properties of an alloy are different from that of combining elements. For example when iron is mixed with Carbon, nickel and chromium, stainless steel is obtained which is hard anddoes not rust.

Alloy is the compound or even an element which is formed by the mixture of more than 2 atoms or molecules. The end product which is formed by the mixture of 2 or more atoms or molecules is know as an alloy.
