When you measure properties of materials from different “angles” (read: point of view in the sense of crystal structures),and you get a different set of information ,that material (solid) is said to be anisotropic.
A counter part of these solids exist too! They are called isotropic solids. They always give you the same result of any property measured from any point of view.
